Kakao Games posted consolidated third-quarter revenue of about 69.1 billion won ($47 million) and an operating loss of about 26.3 billion won. Revenue fell 46% from a year earlier and 8% from the previous quarter, extending the company’s loss-making streak. PC online game revenue declined 57% year on year to about 18.5 billion won, while mobile game revenue fell 40% to about 50.6 billion won. Kakao Games attributed the pressure to a gap in new releases and slowing revenue from existing titles. The company expects performance to begin recovering in the fourth quarter, led by the 2.5D MMORPG Dokkaebi's World, which reached No. 1 on Google Play’s revenue rankings five days after its October launch. It plans a global mobile and Steam release in the second quarter of next year, alongside further launches including Path of Exile 2 on Dec. 12 and Odin Q: Valkyrie's Call in January. Kakao Games is also accelerating acquisitions and strategic investments, including its planned acquisition of Me2on and investment in BackendX, while pursuing shareholder returns and an employee restricted stock unit program.
