South Korea urged stronger cooperation among Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) members to build stable energy supply chains as the region remains vulnerable to crises in the Middle East. Second Vice Foreign Minister Kim Jina made the appeal during the 37th APEC Ministerial Meeting, held by videoconference the previous day. The meeting was co-chaired by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Commerce Minister Wang Wentao and brought together foreign and trade ministers from APEC's 21 member economies to discuss regional cooperation and economic integration. Kim also called for deeper collaboration under the APEC AI Initiative, launched under South Korea's leadership at last year's APEC summit in Gyeongju. South Korea said it would support artificial intelligence development and adoption through innovation platforms, including a global AI hub and an Asia-Pacific AI center, while expanding its contributions so all members can benefit from innovation in the AI era.
