LG Hellovision's consolidated operating profit fell 97.5% to 222 million won in the third quarter from 8.98 billion won a year earlier, as South Korea's pay-TV market deteriorated and its budget mobile business stalled. Revenue declined 24.2% to 226.2 billion won from 298.5 billion won, while the company swung to a net loss of 28 million won from a net profit of 2.01 billion won. Compared with the previous quarter, revenue fell 7% and operating profit dropped 92.5%. Broadcasting generated 120.4 billion won in revenue, followed by internet services at 33.1 billion won, mobile virtual network operator services at 35.3 billion won, rentals at 20.1 billion won and region-based businesses at 16.9 billion won. LG Hellovision said it is overhauling its operations, stabilizing costs and pursuing quality growth; it recently offered voluntary retirement packages as part of that effort.
