Hyundai Department Store Co. reported third-quarter net income of 30.7 billion won (US$22.9 million), down 35.6% from a year earlier, while consolidated operating profit rose 30.1% to 94.6 billion won (US$64.8 million). Net revenue increased 16% to 1.17 trillion won, exceeding FnGuide estimates for revenue of 1.09 trillion won and operating profit of 85.3 billion won. Department store earnings benefited from foreign shoppers and resilient demand for fashion, luxury goods and high-end jewelry, while the duty-free unit gained from higher traveler numbers and the addition of the DF2 zone at Incheon International Airport. Zinus remained loss-making as weaker U.S. consumer spending reduced mattress demand, although its results improved from the previous quarter as orders normalized and a profit-structure overhaul took effect.
