South Korea, Singapore and New Zealand have reviewed progress and outstanding issues in negotiations for their trilateral Green Economy Partnership Agreement (GEPA). Senior officials held a videoconference ahead of APEC Economic Leaders’ Week, scheduled to begin next week in China. Seoul says GEPA would help the three countries address trade-related climate measures (TrCMs), including the European Union’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), which applies a carbon price to imports comparable to that on goods made inside the bloc. The partners also plan to expand policy and technology exchanges in aerospace and construction to support sustainable industrial growth. Talks began on the sidelines of last year’s APEC Economic Leaders’ Week in South Korea, followed by rounds in July and September this year. A third round is scheduled for early 2027. The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources said GEPA is intended to support both shared rules and practical cooperation that turns common priorities into tangible results.
