The Korea Fair Trade Commission fined 17 wedding venues and wedding preparation agencies a combined 15.6 million Korean won for failing to disclose prices for additional services and other required information. The violations included undisclosed S·D·M services—studio photography, wedding dress rental and makeup—as well as venue fees, cancellation penalties and refunds. The commission said the businesses, including Directcoms, KN&M Corporation and Basilium, failed to post detailed prices online or on contract covers, leaving some consumers to learn about extra costs only when using the contracted goods or services. The fines ranged from 200,000 to 2.4 million won per company. The KFTC inspected 50 major businesses, has operated a dedicated reporting center since the 2nd and plans to monitor non-compliant businesses next year.
