LS Group (006260) promoted LS Cable & System president and chief executive Koo Bon-kyu to vice chairman in its regular 2027 executive reshuffle, while promoting Kim Hyung-won to president. The group approved 15 promotions and appointed 17 new executive directors at a board meeting on the 5th, with the changes taking effect Jan. 1 next year. Koo, who has led LS Cable & System since 2022, was credited with expanding submarine cables and other high-value power businesses, helping drive record earnings and order wins at LS Cable & System and affiliates including Gaon Cable (000500), LS Eco Energy (229640) and LS Marine Solution (060370). Kim was recognized for expanding global orders and the submarine cable business and will also oversee energy management and safety management. Most chief executives of major affiliates remain in place as LS Group seeks stability amid an expected power supercycle and rising investment in AI data centers and global power infrastructure. The reshuffle also advances a generational transition, moving Koo Bon-kwon from LS MnM to LS Mtron as chief operating officer for management administration and appointing executives in battery materials, permanent magnets and power generation. Choi Won-jin, former chief executive of Lotte Non-Life Insurance, joined as senior vice president and head of the management strategy division.
