Uranium Digital has raised $16.5 million in a Series A led by Blockchain Capital to expand its institutional-grade spot trading platform for physical uranium. Existing investors Portal Ventures and Apeiron Investment Group also participated. Founded in 2024, the New York-based startup tokenizes U3O8, or yellowcake, with each digital unit representing one pound and backed 1:1 by physical uranium. The platform runs on Solana and is designed for 24/7 trading, using a hybrid exchange model powered by Cube Exchange technology. It supports a full lit order book, does not custody client assets and settles trades on Solana in seconds. Anchorage Digital is identified as the custodian, while Chainlink provides proof of reserves. Earlier plans included real-time position management, digital warehouse receipts redeemable for uranium, and connections to order-management systems, prime brokers and FIX APIs. ConverDyn provides storage, according to the existing account. The round follows a $1.7 million pre-seed financing in December 2024 and a $6.1 million seed round in 2025. Rising electricity demand from AI data centers has strengthened interest in nuclear power and uranium, although custody, verification and market access remain important considerations for institutional adoption.
