Anchorage Digital submitted an application on November 5, 2026, through Anchorage Digital Swap Dealer, LLC to register as a swap dealer with the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission. The National Futures Association is reviewing the filing, which is intended to expand Anchorage's crypto options business for large clients and allow the company to act as a dealer in swaps and options if approved. The entity plans to initially offer European-style Bitcoin and Ethereum options with maturities of up to one year, subject to internal approvals and regulatory requirements, before potentially adding other products. The registration would give institutional clients access to CFTC-regulated digital-asset derivatives while using Anchorage's existing custody and other services. Anchorage already offers options, structured products, trading and margin services through Anchorage Hold, LLC. Founded in 2017 by Diogo Mónica and Nathan McCauley, the company is valued at $4.2 billion and holds a federal national bank charter and a New York BitLicense. Its regulatory history includes a 2022 OCC consent order over anti-money-laundering and compliance issues, which was lifted in 2025.
