Wonder has confidentially filed for a U.S. initial public offering as the food-technology company expands beyond delivery through food halls, acquisitions, automation and new restaurant concepts. Founded in 2018 by entrepreneur Marc Lore, the New York-based company prepares meals and handles delivery, pickup and dine-in service through a single platform offering food from multiple restaurant brands. Wonder has not disclosed the number of shares or price range for the proposed offering. The company raised more than $650 million in July at a valuation of around $9 billion, with backing from Accel, GV, AllianceBernstein and ARK Invest. Its expansion includes a plan to open more than 100 locations in Texas by the end of 2027, acquisitions of Blue Apron, Grubhub, Tastemade and Spyce, and a Wonder Create platform that uses AI to develop restaurant brands and menu items. Wonder has also entered a $425 million partnership with DoorDash to expand campus dining across 450 colleges and universities and other locations. Separately, it plans to launch drone deliveries in Texas in January 2027 through Zipline. The proposed listing would expose Wonder to competition from DoorDash and Uber Eats as well as the operational, regulatory and market challenges facing public companies.
