The New York Times Company has reportedly entered exclusive negotiations to acquire Letterboxd for $330 million, according to a report published by The New York Times. Letterboxd, an online movie platform comparable to Goodreads for films, reported 3 million users in January 2021 and 28 million by April of this year. More than half of its users are under 35. The platform is free, while a paid subscription provides advanced features. Its projected earnings for this year are estimated at $15 million, about 4.5% of the reported purchase price. A24 and Sony were previously identified as interested buyers, although A24 was priced out. The New York Times Company declined to comment to its own newspaper. The report's anonymous sourcing prompted the publication to treat the negotiations as credible.
