World Liberty Financial formalized a WLFI token buyback plan on Nov. 6 after the token fell about 8% since the U.S. midterm elections and remained down more than 70% from its high this year. The project said the initiative is designed to encourage governance participation and strengthen the voting power of long-term holders, who vote on protocol-operation proposals in proportion to their holdings. Funding will come from multiple sources, including fees from reserves backing the USD1 stablecoin, while the initial allocation and purchase schedule have not been disclosed. The pace and size of purchases will depend on ecosystem growth and participation. WLFI has already conducted buyback-and-burn activity since beginning public trading in September 2025. About 32% of its maximum supply of 100 billion tokens is in circulation. Earlier plans included directing 100% of protocol-owned liquidity fees to open-market purchases, a proposal approved with 99.8% support, and purchases of about $10 million worth of 59 million WLFI tokens for burning. WLFI traded near $0.047 in previously reported market data, with daily volume around $115.3 million, while other Trump-linked tokens also weakened after the midterm elections.
