Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said the effort is designed to secure data distribution and prevent tampering. The program will expand to include other government agencies, following the January 2025 executive order by President Donald Trump that directed federal entities to accelerate blockchain adoption. The initiative aims to improve transparency, strengthen public trust, and provide tamper-proof access to official statistics.
