In an official announcement, Binance named former Crypto.com Senior VP SB Seker as Head of Asia-Pacific (APAC). He will drive regional strategy and operations while strengthening engagement with policymakers and regulators, with a focus on transparency, user protection, and compliance. Seker brings over 20 years of experience across fintech and law, including roles at Ant Group and Amicorp, litigation work in Australia, and a central banking legal role at the Monetary Authority of Singapore. The move comes amid regulatory pressure: AUSTRAC directed Binance Australia to appoint an external auditor over AML/CTF concerns; in 2023 Binance agreed to pay $4.3 billion in U.S. penalties, and founder Changpeng Zhao resigned and later served a four-month U.S. prison sentence. A study by Foresight Ventures and Primitive Ventures says Asia accounts for 60% of global crypto users and the largest share of liquidity.
