On-chain investigator ZachXBT disclosed that Danny Meech, linked to the $243 million Genesis creditor theft in August 2024 and other major crypto crimes, may have been detained in Dubai. However, The Block reported that neither Dubai police nor UAE regulators have released any public statements or media reports confirming such an arrest. Meech has been associated with the 2023 Kroll SIM swap attack affecting BlockFi, Genesis, and FTX clients, as well as multiple social engineering schemes exceeding $300 million in losses.
