Following two significant upgrades in 2025, the Ethereum Foundation sets a 2026 roadmap to boost scalability, usability, and security through a reorganized protocol team structure.
On January 18, 2025, the Ethereum Foundation’s protocol team announced their 2026 development priorities after completing two major upgrades in 2025. The plan involves reorganizing into three dedicated teams to address scalability, usability, and security simultaneously, ensuring balanced progress across core areas. This structural shift complements existing goals outlined in the February 2025 roadmap, including EIP-7928, zkEVM production deployment, EIP-7701, post-quantum cryptographic readiness, and the Glamsterdam upgrade scheduled for early 2026.
