A 25-year-old businessman from mainland China reported being illegally detained in a Hung Hom hotel in Hong Kong and coerced into revealing his cryptocurrency password, leading to the theft of about $680,000 in digital assets. The attackers also stole 42 kilograms of silver, bringing the total losses to more than HK$6 million. According to initial reports, four suspects fled the scene before police arrived. Authorities are investigating the case as unlawful detention and extortion, highlighting ongoing risks tied to the storage and control of personal crypto holdings.
