Iran’s ambassador to Pakistan said Tehran sent a new proposal through Islamabad and remains open to diplomacy, while stating progress depends on changes in U.S. behavior and respect for Iran’s rights.
Pakistan has continued to act as an intermediary between Iran and the United States as revised proposals move between the two sides. Earlier reporting said White House envoy Steve Witkoff sent revised U.S. terms through Pakistani intermediaries, including a request that Iran halt activity at bombed nuclear sites and avoid touching enriched uranium stockpiles during talks. Iran then submitted a proposal that linked discussion of the Strait of Hormuz to a U.S. commitment to stop attacks and lift port blockades, while suggesting nuclear issues could be addressed later in exchange for sanctions relief. A later report indicated Tehran no longer required lifting a Strait of Hormuz blockade before direct talks. The newest update adds that Iran’s ambassador to Pakistan said Tehran has submitted a new negotiation proposal via Pakistan to the United States, remains committed to diplomacy while defending national interests, and sees progress as dependent on changes in U.S. behavior and respect for Iran’s rights.
