According to reporting from Crypto In America and Texas runoff results, crypto-backed groups expanded 2026 election influence through Christian Menefee’s win over Al Green and Fairshake spending in Texas, Maryland, and California.
Crypto industry-linked political action committees and executives have committed more than $500 million to the 2026 U.S. elections, with Republicans reportedly receiving substantially more support than Democrats. Texas primary runoff results added to that trend, with reporting from Eleanor Terret of Crypto In America saying the industry went 6-for-6 in races backed by crypto-aligned groups. In the Democratic runoff for Texas’s 18th Congressional District, Christian Menefee defeated 20-year incumbent Al Green after receiving millions in support from Protect Progress, a Fairshake affiliate; the source also describes Green as a crypto critic with an F rating from Stand with Crypto, while Menefee held an A rating. Fairshake said it spent roughly $6.5 million supporting Menefee and another roughly $1.8 million backing Alex Mealer, Tom Sell, John Bonck, and Carlos De La Cruz. Reporting also said crypto-aligned money supported Ken Paxton’s Republican Senate primary runoff win over John Cornyn. Beyond Texas, Fairshake has reportedly spent about $2.12 million supporting Adrian Boafo in Maryland’s 5th Congressional District primary and is expected to focus on California’s 32nd Congressional District race involving Brad Sherman and Jake Levine.
