The migration plan targets end-2027 readiness by letting accounts swap signing keys without changing addresses or transaction history, with rollout starting in 2026 and Ed25519 retirement possible after 2028.
Stellar Development Foundation has outlined a Quantum Preparedness Plan to prepare the XLM network for risks posed by future quantum computing advances. The roadmap is designed to let all accounts migrate only their signing keys while preserving existing addresses and transaction history by the end of 2027, with a three-phase rollout beginning in 2026. The foundation also said possible retirement of Ed25519 is being considered after 2028, signaling a phased cryptographic transition intended to strengthen long-term network resilience without forcing a broader overhaul of account identities or historical records.
