Chipmakers including Hua Hong Semiconductor and Montage Technology rose more than 7%, while leveraged Samsung and SK Hynix products and AI model stock Zhipu also climbed sharply.
Hong Kong-listed semiconductor and related technology shares surged on June 12, extending investor interest in chip-linked names after the previous session's rally in China's A-share semiconductor sector. Hua Hong Semiconductor and Montage Technology each rose more than 7%, while Skyverse Semiconductor, GigaDevice, Innoscience, Biren Technology and SMIC also advanced. Storage-related shares moved broadly higher, with South Double Long Samsung Electronics jumping more than 19% and South Double Long SK Hynix rising more than 14%. Large-model stock Zhipu gained more than 10%. The move follows a June 11 rally in A-share semiconductor stocks after the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued its 2026-2028 "Artificial Intelligence + Information and Communication" innovation development implementation opinion, which called for stronger research and development of high-end optoelectronic chips and devices and trials of optoelectronic hybrid networking technology.
