The Spanish wholesale custodian said its live service extends institutional digital-asset offerings under MiCA, with Bit2Me acting as partner and initial client as traditional banks deepen crypto infrastructure.
Cecabank has gone live with cryptocurrency custody services through a partnership with Bit2Me, marking the Spanish wholesale custodian’s latest move into regulated digital-asset infrastructure. The Madrid-based firm said the launch follows its MiCA license from Spain’s CNMV in 2025 and ESMA registration, positioning it among European banks expanding crypto services as the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets framework takes hold. Cecabank, which reported more than €400 billion in assets under management at the start of 2026, provides settlement, custody and depositary services to more than 100 financial institutions across more than 70 international markets rather than serving retail users directly. Bit2Me, a Spanish crypto platform with more than $280 million in daily spot volume according to CoinMarketCap, is both Cecabank’s partner and first client. The move comes as banks in Europe and the United States step further into crypto custody and related services, with MiCA giving European institutions an earlier regulatory route while large U.S. banks and state-chartered institutions have also begun advancing custody, trading and digital-asset offerings.
