South Korea’s cryptocurrency trading volume fell 28% year over year to $69 billion in the first quarter of 2026, a steeper drop than the 20% average decline across major markets, Korea Times reported, citing TRM Labs data. The report said South Korea was the weakest performer in that group as retail and speculative money rotated into AI- and semiconductor-related stocks, while tighter regulation weighed on domestic crypto activity.
