
Japan’s benchmark still ended higher on June 19 after an intraday drop, while South Korea’s KOSPI closed lower as regional stocks weakened amid the U.S.-Iran situation.
Japan’s Nikkei 225 and South Korea’s KOSPI turned volatile on June 19 after both benchmarks posted record closes a day earlier. The Nikkei 225 closed up 196.57 points, or 0.28%, at 71,250.06 after falling more than 0.5% intraday, while the KOSPI closed down 14.81 points, or 0.16%, at 9,049.03 after dropping more than 3% during the session. The moves followed record June 18 closes, when the Nikkei 225 rose 1,151.24 points, or 1.65%, to 71,053.49 and the KOSPI gained 208.09 points, or 2.35%, to 9,072.33. Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix had also finished at record closing prices on June 18.
