Alchemy launches AgentCard for AI agents using Visa payment infrastructure

Alchemy is rolling out AgentCard, a new AI-focused virtual Visa card and identity product aimed at helping AI agents operate autonomously in real-world commerce. Built through an integration with Visa Intelligent Commerce, the offering gives developers a single API setup that provides a Visa payment token, a dedicated email address, phone number and crypto wallet. The card is designed to support tokenized card payments, crypto where merchants accept it, and newer agent payment rails such as Coinbase-incubated x402 and Stripe’s Machine Payments Protocol, or MPP. Alchemy said the system will default to Visa-issued tokens and automatically shift to crypto or other agent-native payment methods as merchant and network support expands, without requiring reconfiguration. AgentCard arrives as large payment networks and crypto companies race to build tools for autonomous software. Recent examples include Mastercard’s Agent Pay for Machines, MetaMask’s Agent Wallet and Oobit’s Visa-based setup that lets bots spend USDT balances. Like similar products, Alchemy’s version includes spend controls such as merchant restrictions, transaction caps and budgets. Flor Ronsmans De Vry, Co-Creator of AgentCard, said the main barrier for developers is not agent intelligence but giving those systems the tools to function in the world, and framed the product as a one-step way to handle that setup while expanding access to whatever payment rails agents may need.
