Summary

Ledn said it has added support for Tether Gold, or XAUT/XAU₮, allowing borrowers to take loans against tokenized gold in a similar way to its existing Bitcoin-backed loans. The company said the product broadens collateral options beyond Bitcoin, lets clients access liquidity without selling their gold exposure, and uses a custody model in which collateral is held 1:1 and is not rehypothecated or lent out to generate yield. Ledn said each XAUT token represents one fine Troy ounce of physical gold held in Swiss vaults, and that the launch excludes residents of Canada and the European Union. The move extends Ledn’s relationship with Tether, which made a strategic investment in the company in November 2025, and comes as crypto lending firms continue to face scrutiny after the 2022 failures of BlockFi, Celsius, Genesis, and Voyager Digital.
