OpenAI began a limited GPT-5.6 preview with Sol, Terra and Luna, with broader access planned in coming weeks and a July launch of Sol on Cerebras hardware reportedly targeting up to 750 tokens per second.
OpenAI has started a limited preview of its GPT-5.6 series, comprising the flagship model Sol, the balanced model Terra and the fast low-cost model Luna. Pricing is set at $5 per 1 million input tokens and $30 per 1 million output tokens for Sol, $2.5 and $15 for Terra, and $1 and $6 for Luna. Access is currently limited to select trusted partners, with broader availability planned in the coming weeks. OpenAI also plans to launch GPT-5.6 Sol on Cerebras hardware in July, with BlockBeats reporting on June 27, citing Serenity, that inference speeds could reach up to 750 tokens per second. The rollout drew additional attention because the naming overlaps with crypto terms including Solana's SOL and Terra's LUNA, prompting Solana's official X account to joke, "Sam Altcoinman."
