The break under a key price level came as U.S.-listed spot Bitcoin ETFs logged their largest monthly withdrawal on record, including more than 26,000 Bitcoin sold over three days, adding pressure to market sentiment.
Bitcoin fell below the closely watched $60,000 level as investor sentiment softened and U.S.-listed spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $4 billion of outflows in June, the largest monthly withdrawal on record for the products. Earlier reporting said the outflows included more than 26,000 Bitcoin sold over three days. Because spot Bitcoin ETFs hold the asset directly, heavy redemptions can translate into selling in the underlying market and add near-term pressure on prices. Miller Tabak strategist Matt Maley said clearer U.S. crypto legislation could reduce uncertainty over the longer term, while 22V Research technical strategist John Roque warned that a sustained break below $60,000 could open the way to $40,000.
