The nonprofit said it chose its structure to support Ethereum as a public good, with funding from large ETH holders and ecosystem builders expected to cover two to three years of operations.
Nonprofit Ethlabs said its mission is to help make Ethereum the core of global financial infrastructure by focusing on chain-layer scaling, platform building, and ecosystem growth and marketing. The independent group, formed by five former Ethereum Foundation core research members, said it chose a nonprofit structure to support Ethereum as a public good while preserving independence and neutrality in research and building. Ethlabs also said funding comes from large ETH holders and Ethereum ecosystem builders without governance control, and that committed capital is expected to support operations for the next two to three years, though the amount has not been disclosed.
