SK Hynix is in talks with equipment makers over semiconductor inspection equipment for its Cheongju P&T7 plant, with verbal coordination under way on how many units can be delivered next year. Industry expectations point to orders for about 200 units, including HBM4 testers, with pricing of KRW 1.5 billion to KRW 2 billion per unit and a total order value that could reach KRW 400 billion. The equipment discussions come as CEO Kwak Noh-jung said on July 2 at the National Report Meeting on the Vision for Advanced Industry Development in the Chungcheong region that SK hynix plans to invest KRW100 trillion in Cheongju, including KRW20 trillion for the P&T7 advanced packaging plant targeted for completion by the end of 2027 and KRW80 trillion for the M17 NAND plant, which is due to start construction next year and begin production in the first half of 2029.
