Sinopec wins ESG award in Germany for full-chain carbon management

China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation, known as Sinopec, said it received the "Social Responsibility Best Practice" award at the third Sino-European Corporate ESG Best Practice Conference in Mainz, Germany, on June 26. The company said its submission, titled "Innovation‑Driven Green Development, Shared Responsibility for a Sustainable Future," was recognized for comprehensive full-chain carbon management practices built around product carbon footprint management. Sinopec said it has created a carbon management system covering the full product lifecycle and aligned it with both Chinese and European standards. It also said it became the first to achieve mutual recognition with BASF on carbon footprint accounting, which it described as a replicable model for cross-border green collaboration. The company framed its work in green energy supply, low-carbon technology research and development, and supply chain carbon assessment as part of its support for China's "dual carbon" goals and as a practical benchmark for ESG (environmental, social and governance) implementation in the global energy and chemical industry. At the conference, a Sinopec representative delivered a keynote titled Cleaner Energy, Better Life: Deepening China-Europe Green Cooperation for a Low-Carbon Energy Future, saying green and low-carbon development is a shared pursuit and that China and Europe have broad room for cooperation.
