The listed Bitcoin treasury company said its shares are becoming a channel for Bitcoin exposure in Japan as it bought 2,823 BTC in Q2 2026 and reported $10.9 million in revenue.
Metaplanet said it now has more than 250,000 shareholders, which Dylan LeClair said is roughly 1 in every 600 people in Japan and puts the company among the country’s top 30 listed firms by shareholder count. The company said this reflects accelerating Bitcoin adoption through its stock. Separately, Metaplanet said it bought 2,823 BTC in Q2 2026 for about JPY 35.89 billion, or roughly $221 million, and said the quarter’s purchases brought its average Bitcoin acquisition cost to $106,500 per BTC. It also reported $10.9 million in revenue from its income generation strategy.
