Former Sterling McCall Buick GMC has operated as Group 1 GMC Southwest since July 1, 2025, as the retailer extends a unified U.S. naming strategy without changing ownership or daily operations.
Group 1 Automotive, Inc. said its Houston dealership formerly known as Sterling McCall Buick GMC is marking its first anniversary as Group 1 GMC Southwest after adopting the new name on July 1, 2025. The company said the change is part of a broader U.S. branding initiative aimed at creating a more consistent customer experience across its retail network while leaving ownership, staffing, product offerings and day-to-day operations unchanged. Group 1 said it has owned and operated the Houston dealership for more than two decades and that the store continues serving drivers in southwest Houston, Sugar Land, Stafford and nearby communities from 10422 Southwest Freeway with new GMC vehicles, used vehicles, certified service, parts and maintenance support. Stephen Swad, director general of Group 1 GMC Southwest, said customers continue to see the same local team while gaining a clearer connection to Group 1's broader resources. Group 1 said its network includes 250 dealerships, 310 franchises and 32 repair shops across the United States and the United Kingdom, offering 37 vehicle brands.
