Metaplanet said it acquired 2,823 BTC in the second quarter of the fiscal year ending December 2026, raising its total holdings to 43,000 bitcoin from 40,177 BTC on March 31, 2026. The Tokyo Stock Exchange Standard-listed company said the purchases totaled 35.886 billion yen at an average price of 12,712,055 yen per BTC. The company said the move puts it third in the global corporate bitcoin holder ranking, behind Strategy and Twenty One Capital, and ahead of MARA Holdings. Metaplanet also said its Bitcoin Generation business produced $10.95 million in second-quarter revenue, helping bring the effective purchase price for the quarter to about 12.09 million yen per bitcoin, while total bitcoin investment stood at about 659.25 billion yen and holdings were valued at roughly 409 billion yen as of June 30. It reported a 6.6% BTC Yield for the quarter, a metric tied to bitcoin accumulation on a per-share basis, as the company continues to expand a treasury strategy it adopted in 2024.
