Toyota and Lexus sold 212,793 vehicles in the U.S. in June, while quarterly electrified sales reached 383,091 and Lexus posted its best June result on record.
Toyota Motor North America said U.S. June sales rose 10.1% in volume to 212,793 vehicles, or 5.7% on a daily selling rate basis, as electrified vehicle sales climbed 35.0% to 122,063 and accounted for 57.4% of total monthly volume. Second-quarter sales edged up 1.1% to 673,971 vehicles, with electrified sales increasing 19.5% to 383,091, or 56.8% of total volume. The Toyota division sold 183,627 vehicles in June, up 11.2%, and 585,211 in the quarter, up 2.6%. Lexus sold 29,166 vehicles in June, up 3.9%, marking its best June on record, while quarterly Lexus sales fell 7.5% to 88,760. Toyota said it now has 33 electrified vehicles available at Toyota and Lexus dealerships. Among highlighted results, Toyota reported its highest electrification mix on record at 61.4%, June electrified sales of 110,627 for the Toyota division, up 38.0%, and June electrified sales of 11,436 for Lexus, up 11.7%. The company also said RAV4 Hybrid posted its best result ever. Senior Vice President of Automotive Operations Group Andrew Gilleland said steady demand, disciplined inventory management and growing month-by-month interest in electrified vehicles supported the quarter, adding that a broad range of vehicles starting below $35,000 positions the company to widen access to electrification.
