A July 2 technical report in Criminal Science and Technology sets out how Chinese police investigate and seize cryptocurrency assets. The paper, written by officers from the Wenzhou Public Security Bureau and Zhejiang Provincial Public Security Department, says investigators collect evidence from phones, computers and hardware wallets by searching for private keys, seed phrases, screenshots and chat records. It adds that authorities can trace funds through blockchain records, cross-chain paths and mixer flows, then combine those findings with exchange real-name data to track assets and freeze accounts.
