Standard Chartered, FalconX and Sygnum Europe joined ESMA’s latest MiCA register update, lifting the EU total to 280 licensed crypto providers after the transition deadline passed.
ESMA’s first major MiCA register update after the July 1 transition deadline added 37 firms, lifting the number of authorized crypto-asset service providers in the EU to 280. New entries include Standard Chartered, FalconX, Sygnum Europe and Ronin EM, while Crédit Agricole’s CACEIS was added to the register of electronic money tokens. Six of the new authorizations came through Cyprus, more than any other jurisdiction in the latest batch, although Germany still leads overall with 58 MiCA authorizations, ahead of France with 31 and the Netherlands with 26. The update left the list of approved asset-referenced token issuers empty and the non-compliant entity list unchanged at 162. The move marks the first register revision since MiCA’s transitional period closed on July 1, as firms that failed to secure authorization face pressure to exit the EU market or seek approval elsewhere. Standard Chartered said it obtained MiCA authorization and an Electronic Money Institution license through its Luxembourg subsidiary, giving it a regulated entry point for digital-asset services across the bloc, while FalconX received authorization from Malta’s Financial Services Authority.
