Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Communication, Technology and Innovation, Bhutan NDI and SIGN Foundation signed an MoU to build a national digital identity platform with defined policy, architecture and implementation roles.
Sign has entered a formal partnership with Bhutan NDI, a subsidiary of Bhutan’s sovereign wealth fund Druk Holding & Investment, to support governments building secure, inclusive and interoperable sovereign digital identity and verifiable credential systems. The initiative now includes a memorandum of understanding signed by Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Communication, Technology and Innovation, Bhutan NDI and SIGN Foundation to design, develop and implement Sierra Leone’s national digital identity platform using open-source technology and W3C-compliant verifiable credentials. Under the arrangement, the ministry will lead policy, Bhutan NDI will contribute architecture experience and SIGN will handle technical implementation.
