The appointments expand the pair’s existing roles as the bank pushes European growth after integrating RBC Brewin Dolphin and building operations across wealth management, capital markets and asset management.
Royal Bank of Canada has appointed Sian Hurrell and Robin Beer as co-CEOs of RBC Europe Limited as it seeks to accelerate growth in the region and make fuller use of its combined European business portfolio. In the expanded roles, the two executives will set strategy across Europe, work with the leadership team on sustainable growth, and oversee governance and regulatory supervision of RBC’s capital markets and wealth management activities in Europe. Hurrell will keep her current post as head of Capital Markets Europe, while Beer will retain his positions as head of Global Sales & Relationship Management and CEO of RBC Wealth Management Europe. RBC said the move reflects its commitment to European expansion, where it now operates across wealth management, capital markets and asset management. The bank said investments in wealth management, particularly the integration of Brewin Dolphin, have made RBC one of the top five providers in the United Kingdom. Group Head Neil McLaughlin said the United Kingdom and Europe are a key part of RBC’s global growth ambitions, while Derek Neldner, Group Head at RBC Capital Markets, said the bank is ready to advance its European growth goals and use its scale to serve more clients and win market share. RBC said it has more than 5,400 employees in 11 European countries and has operated in London since 1910.
