Texas Southern University has launched a campus master plan tied to its Ascend 2030 strategy and centennial preparations, setting out roughly $1.7 billion in campus investments and more than 20 phased projects over the next decade. The plan is designed to align long-term capital spending with priorities including student success, workforce readiness, research expansion, community engagement and institutional efficiency. University President J. W. Crawford III said the framework links physical development with institutional strategy and is intended to scale over time. The university said three new academic and research facilities — the Catalyst for Urban Transformation, Nabrit Science Center and Health and Wellness Center — are expected to begin construction later this year and open during the centennial year, backed by more than $95 million in state funding. It is also working with the Texas Facilities Commission on a $10 million appropriation from the Texas Legislature to plan and design the proposed Thurgood Marshall School of Law Center to replace the aging law school.
