June outflows from U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs coincided with a second-quarter slide in Bitcoin, as investors rotated toward AI-linked trading themes and other alternative opportunities.
BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust, or IBIT, saw $59 million in redemptions as U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded more than $4 billion in net outflows in June 2026, the largest monthly withdrawal since the products launched in January 2024. IBIT represented roughly $3.55 billion of that total during the reported June period, including a $444.5 million outflow on June 26, its worst single day. The withdrawals came as Bitcoin fell about 14% in the second quarter, slipped below $60,000 and posted a third straight quarterly loss. CoinDesk said capital rotated toward AI trading and other opportunities, including a SpaceX IPO, while pressure also built across alternative assets as private credit redemption requests reached $15.6 billion in the second quarter. Redemptions from spot Bitcoin ETFs can translate into market selling because authorized participants, the large firms that create and redeem ETF shares, must sell the underlying Bitcoin to meet withdrawals. The broad-based nature of the June outflows suggests investors were cutting Bitcoin exposure across the category rather than reacting to a single issuer-specific problem.
