The 10-year held at 4.5372% and the 30-year stayed above 5% as investors watched U.S.-Iran developments and oil prices eased.
U.S. Treasury yields were little changed on Friday as investors monitored the latest developments in the Middle East, with no major economic data releases expected. The 10-year U.S. Treasury note yield, a benchmark for consumer borrowing costs, was flat at 4.5372%, while the 2-year yield, which is more sensitive to short-term Federal Reserve policy expectations, held at 4.1682%. The 30-year Treasury bond yield was also steady at 5.0536%. Markets remained focused on geopolitical risk after renewed missile strikes between the U.S. and Iran this week further strained an already fragile ceasefire agreement. Oil prices eased in early trading after a U.S. official said Washington would continue technical talks with Iran and remained committed to finding a solution to the conflict. U.S. West Texas Intermediate futures fell 0.26% to $71.88 a barrel, while Brent crude slipped 0.28% to $76.12. Treasury yields had spiked earlier in the week after Trump said at the NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey that the ceasefire was "over," before edging lower on Thursday.
