Marex agrees to buy BPI, adding about $800 million in client balances

The Singapore-based clearing business would deepen Marex’s Asia-Pacific presence, expand China market access and add more than 70 employees across five countries, subject to regulatory approval.

Summary

Marex Group Limited said it has agreed to acquire Bright Point International, a Singapore-based multi-asset clearing business, in a deal aimed at expanding its Asia-Pacific footprint and giving clients greater access to markets in China. The transaction would add approximately $800 million in client balances and more than 70 employees across Singapore, Hong-Kong, China, Norway and the United Kingdom. BPI serves clients across commodities and financial products, including FX, index futures and options, and digital asset derivatives (crypto-linked contracts). Marex said the acquisition would add scale, deepen China-linked client relationships and strengthen regional expertise. The deal is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close by late 2026 or early 2027. Group Head of Clearing Thomas Texier said the acquisition is expected to lift revenue by adding clients and increasing client balances, while also creating material synergies through the internalization of some clearing activities. BPI Group CEO Kenny Mah said joining Marex would help accelerate growth, broaden client solutions and provide staff with access to a global platform. The company also cautioned that its statements on the expected acquisition, timing and benefits are forward-looking and subject to risks and uncertainties, with actual outcomes potentially differing materially.
