At VivaTech 2026, Jeremy Allaire linked generative AI to an expansion in smart contracts as Circle broadened its open-source Agent Stack starter kit across major AI agent frameworks.
Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire said at VivaTech 2026 in Paris on June 17 that generative AI could sharply lower the barrier to programmable finance by turning plain-language instructions into smart contracts, potentially driving an “explosion in smart contracts.” He said users may no longer need Solidity expertise, gas optimization knowledge, or dedicated blockchain developers to create onchain financial agreements. Circle has been building products around that vision: after launching Agent Stack on May 11, 2026, it has now released an open-source starter kit that lets developers integrate wallets, USDC payments, and onchain operations into AI agents. The kit supports major frameworks including OpenAI Agents SDK, Anthropic Agent SDK, LangChain Deep Agents, Mastra, Vercel AI SDK, and Google ADK. Agent Stack also includes permissioned agent wallets, developer command-line tools, gas-free nanopayments for USDC transfers as small as $0.000001, and an Agent Marketplace for discovering agents and services. Allaire said tens of billions of AI agents could eventually do real-economy work with stablecoins as a primary payment rail, though the model raises regulatory and compliance questions including liability for faulty contracts and how KYC would apply to software.
