H.I.G. Capital funds take majority ownership of Outward Hound

The pet products company said the deal will support product innovation, stronger retail partnerships and expansion into additional categories.

Funds affiliated with H.I.G. Capital have assumed majority ownership of Outward Hound, giving the pet products company added backing to invest in its dog and cat brand portfolio, speed up product innovation, deepen customer partnerships and pursue broader category growth. CEO Jared Mosher said the transaction gives the company greater flexibility to invest behind its brands while maintaining its focus on product development and retail relationships. Managing Director Vivek Jain said H.I.G. plans to work with Outward Hound’s leadership team to expand the business. Outward Hound, based in Centennial, Colorado, sells toys, games, gear, feeders, beds and treats through brands including Outward Hound, Best Friends by Sheri, Catstages, Wholesome Pride Pet Treats, Nina Ottosson, Planet Dog and Pupstages. H.I.G. Capital said it is a global alternative investment firm with $75 billion of capital under management.
