The companies plan to combine NEC biometric authentication and decentralized ID with Avalanche for stablecoin payments, identity verification, KYC and cross-border payment pilots.
NEC signed a memorandum of understanding with Ava Labs to jointly develop next-generation onchain services using Avalanche, expanding an earlier feasibility study into planned pilot use cases. The companies aim to combine NEC’s biometric authentication and decentralized identity capabilities with Avalanche-based infrastructure to build stablecoin payment and identity verification systems. Planned pilots include inbound payments, financial KYC, AI agent authentication and cross-border payments. NEC had also said on July 10 that it released a white paper on inbound demand, highlighting a potential commercial use case for the proposed payment and identity platform.
