Solana reaches mainnet epoch 1000

The checkpoint marks more than six years of continuous mainnet operation and comes as the network highlights record June transaction activity, validator longevity and major technical upgrades in development.

SOL

Summary

Solana entered Mainnet Epoch 1000 at about 04:11 UTC on July 10, 2026, marking more than six years of continuous operation since the network launched in March 2020. The Solana Foundation said the network has never had to reset its epoch count, and described the milestone as the chain advancing through its normal cycle rather than through a hard fork or protocol rollback. On Solana, each epoch contains exactly 432,000 slots and typically lasts around two to three days, serving as the window for recalculating validator staking rewards, paying them in SOL and refreshing the active stake set that determines block production rights for the next cycle. The milestone follows a record month of user activity, with 3.77 billion non-vote transactions processed in June 2026, excluding validator vote traffic and counting activity such as trades, mints, transfers and application interactions. The Solana Foundation also launched an Epoch 1000 page with a wallet age checker and shareable “survivor cards,” while Laine said its validator had been staked on mainnet for 784 consecutive epochs. The update lands as Jump Crypto’s Firedancer validator client and Anza’s Alpenglow consensus protocol continue in development without changing the epoch structure the network has now completed 1,000 times.

Terms & Concepts
  • mainnet: A blockchain network’s live production environment where real transactions occur.
  • epoch: A fixed operating period used to organize validator rewards, staking changes and other network processes.
  • non-vote transactions: Transactions that reflect user activity on the network, excluding validator vote messages used for coordination.
