California is rolling out a state incentive program offering instant rebates of $3,500 for new electric vehicles and $1,750 for used ones, aimed at first-time buyers after the federal EV tax credit was repealed under the Trump administration. The initiative is backed by a $135 million state budget allocation that will be matched by automakers, with no income caps and vehicle price caps of $50,000 for new EVs and $25,000 for used models. The program is designed to help sustain electric-vehicle adoption in California and is scheduled to run through Sept. 1, 2031.
