Frontier and four other Indigo Partners-backed budget carriers plan to introduce Starlink in-flight internet, extending SpaceX’s push into airline connectivity as discounters add more passenger amenities.
Frontier Airlines said it plans to begin offering SpaceX’s Starlink Wi-Fi on its planes early next year, marking the first time the budget carrier will provide in-flight internet. The airline said its first Airbus aircraft equipped with Starlink will roll out in early 2027. The agreement also covers four other budget airlines backed by Indigo Partners — Volaris, Wizz, Jetsmart and Cebu Pacific — giving Starlink another aviation win as SpaceX signs up more carriers worldwide. Frontier, one of the last major U.S. holdouts without onboard Wi-Fi, has not said whether the service will be free, though several larger airlines using Starlink offer complimentary access to loyalty-program members. Starlink has signed deals with more than 40 carriers globally, including United Airlines and American Airlines, as airlines race to meet rising demand for reliable onboard connectivity. The move also comes as budget airlines face pressure to add higher-end features and new seating options, with Frontier planning to introduce first-class seats next year.
