Tottenham is seeking about €50 million for the Argentina defender, a fee reported to be above his estimated market value and one that Inter Milan is said to view as too high.
Cristian Romero remains expected to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer, with Atletico Madrid previously identified as the leading contender and Inter Milan also among the clubs linked with the defender. Tottenham is now reported to want around €50 million for Romero, roughly in line with the fee it agreed with Atalanta in August 2021, when the deal was valued at about €50 million plus €5 million in add-ons. Romero, now 28, is said to earn about €6.5 million a year and to carry an estimated market value of roughly €45 million, leaving Tottenham's asking price at a premium of about 11%. Inter Milan has expressed interest, but the Italian club reportedly considers the valuation too high. Romero has been a regular performer for Spurs since making his permanent move in 2022, and any transfer would unfold against a wider financial backdrop in which Premier League clubs typically have greater spending power than Serie A sides.
